Naxos is a relatively high populated island and the locals love going out for food. Restaurant owners care to attract also us, they do not rely only on the summer visitors and hence they keep a high quality all year long.

All suggested places above that are located in Naxos town are within walking distance from your accommodation and is strongly advised to go on foot rather than by car. Especially, all the bars and clubs are located within a radius of 600 meters and generally, the entrance is free. This means that you can pass from most if not all of them and decide what you like more.

We visit all suggested places, among many others, at least twice per year. We visit more often:

Cafe Lotto in the port road in the morning for coffee, beer, and the evening cocktails, even dinner especially before we continue our night.

Plakafe and Aegean Pool Bar in Plaka beach because they do not charge for sunbeds/umbrellas with minimum consumption of 7 euros per couple (summer 2021). They are huge so it is impossible not to find space even at the peak of the high season. You can even leave your towel on the sunbed and walk for countless km on the sand and then return and relax.

Ostria Cafe Restaurant in Agia Anna beach to relax in a beautiful environment with nice music and nice snacks.

Apostolis, Meataxi mas, or Vassilis in the old town are located within a radius of 50 meters so wherever we find space for the special Greek recipes.

Kozi Restaurant (in its waterfront backyard) in Grotta for the nice view of the temple of Apollo and because it is a souvlaki tavern which means very affordable.

We go for fish, octopus and calamari and drink ouzo at Varavvas (ouzo tavern) because it is more local and well-priced.

We eat gyros souvlaki at the port road from Piperi mainly and Yasouvlaki.

The places listed above do not consist even 3% of the choices that you have on our island and we literally could include twice as many. Generally, all of them are affordable, please check the menus and prices before sitting. The purpose of this list is just to make you familiar with some of our own preferred spots, however, make sure to also do your own research at the TripAdvisor page.

FAQ

Q. Regarding breakfast, can you recommend places very close so that we are not losing time in the morning?

A. The closest option for breakfast is at Plinthos about 200 meters, or on the port road, there is a wide selection of restaurant cafes with great breakfast options where you can also get the morning vibes of the town. Alternatively, for sandwiches, Greek cheese pies and coffee or fresh juice, Gregorys-snacks at the corner of the port road is a well-known chain of Greek bakeries.

Q. What kind of price range do you pay for the food in restaurants and cafes in Naxos? We are on a budget as we are backpacking.

A.Prices start from 3 euros for Greek souvlaki and you do not need more than two to get stuffed. Please click the pictures on the list to reach the corresponding TripAdvisor page where reviewers have uploaded the menus of almost all of them. Similarly, you might get the same info on their google page by clicking the map icon or visiting their own website.
